Having overcome two life threatening - and life changing accidents he talks to groups about the possibilities of the human mind and spirit.

A flaming motorcycle accident took his fingers, his face, and nearly his life.

Later, while piloting his airplane to an emergency crash landing, he was paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Four passengers walked away.

The demand for Mitchell as an author, a television personality and a speaker grows rapidly. Many see him on programs such as the Today Show and Good Morning America. He has also been featured in numerous publications including, Parade,Time and the New York Times.

Mitchell, the former Mayor of Crested Butte, Colorado and congressional candidate has also been recognized for his business success. In 1975 he co-founded Vermont Castings, Inc., which put thousands of people to work.

Born in Wallingford PA, he served in the Marines and worked as a Gripman on the San Francisco cable cars.

The National Speakers Association has awarded Mitchell the CPAE (Council of Peers Award for Excellence). It is the highest recognition in professional speaking. Today, the author of, The Man Who Would Not Be Defeated, is the host of Public Televisions "Finding Common Ground." He also earned an Executive Masters in Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado. He has offices in Colorado and Australia and lives in California and Hawaii.
