    Rick Broadhead: Profile

Rick Broadhead is one of North America's foremost experts on e-business and e-commerce. He is also a leading consultant, industry analyst, and professional speaker with a track record that is virtually unmatched in the technology industry. He is the co-author of a record-breaking 30 books about the Internet (most certainly a Guinness World Record!) including Lightbulbs to Yottabits: How to Profit by Understanding the Internet of the Future, a book lauded for its extraordinary insight into the future of the Internet. His most recent book is Get a Digital Life: An Internet Reality Check. Published in September, 2001, this book debunks the myths that have prevented companies from successfully using the Internet to their advantage and provides practical advice on how businesses can discover powerful e-business opportunities and strategies.

Rick is also the co-author of Selling Online: How to Become a Successful E-Commerce Merchant. Officially endorsed and sponsored by VISA, Selling Online has sold well over 100,000 copies and is being used in VISA's national e-commerce training initiatives. An international success story, Selling Online has been translated into both French and German and a Russian edition is scheduled for release in 2002.

Rick co-wrote one of the first Internet books in North America in 1994, and it immediately vaulted to the top of the bestseller lists, firmly establishing Rick as both an Internet pioneer and a leading authority in the Internet industry. His first bestseller was quickly followed by several others, many of them industry firsts. For example, Rick co-wrote Good Health Online, the first book in North America to comprehensively examine how the Internet can be used as a health resource for consumers.

As an industry expert and visionary, Rick is a highly sought-after keynote speaker and consultant by corporations, Fortune 500 companies, and trade associations across a wide range of industries. His clients have included organizations such as Andersen, Microsoft, IBM, Freightliner Trucks, Bell Mobility, Brookfield Properties/Carma Corporation, CTV Television, Rogers AT&T Wireless, Travelodge Hotels, Choice Hotels, Canada Post Corporation, Manulife Financial, Mackenzie Financial Services, and Entel - one of the largest telecommunications firms in Chile. Rick's services have also been retained by a wide variety of associations and government organizations, including the Canadian Real Estate Association, the Association of Crafts and Creative Industries, the National Spa and Pool Institute, Associated General Contractors (Oregon Chapter), the Canadian Paint and Coatings Association, the National Utility Contractors Association, the Alberta Home Builders' Association, the Canadian Meat Council, the Saskatchewan Call Centre Association, the Government of the Northwest Territories, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, Industry Canada, and the Minnesota Office of Tourism, where Rick provided a keynote address to over 400 tourism officals at the Minnesota Governor's Conference on Tourism.

During the last six years, Rick has assisted executives and managers from hundreds of leading North American companies with their Internet and e-business strategies, including prominent industrial and consumer-oriented firms such as Kraft Foods, HMV, Duracell, Polaroid, Motorola, Bayer, United Parcel Service, Kodak, Ford Motor Company, Benjamin Moore Paints, Lucent Technologies, Volkswagen, Samsonite, Sears, Xerox, Nestle, AT&T, and Coca-Cola.

As an Internet industry veteran and bestselling Internet author, Rick Broadhead is regularly called on by both print and broadcast media for his analysis and commentary on events in the Internet and e-commerce industry. He has conducted hundreds of interviews with radio stations, television networks, magazines, daily and community newspapers, and industry publications on topics ranging from the AOL/Time Warner merger to the Code Red Internet worm. He has been interviewed by such high-profile media outlets as The Wall Street Journal, CNN, USA Today, PC Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times.

In 1999, Rick teamed up with New York-based United Media, one of the largest newspaper syndicates and licensing companies in the United States, to create and launch "e-Trivia", a nationally syndicated newspaper feature about the Internet. In recognition of his unique insight into the Internet and e-business industry, Rick was retained as an expert witness in a groundbreaking legal battle between an Internet start-up and 20th Century Fox, Disney, MGM, Paramount, ABC Inc., CBS Broadcasting Inc, Fox, the NFL, and the NBA. The case made headlines around the world.

Rick Broadhead holds an MBA in marketing from York University's Schulich School of Business in Toronto, where he was awarded the George A Edwards Marketing Medal for demonstrated excellence in marketing.

Rick's presentations are never technical, and he excels at speaking about e-business and e-commerce in an engaging, yet entertaining manner.
