Red Hawk: Profile

Chief Red Hawk is an advisory board member of the Old Negev Research Institute (ONRI), an Institute dedicated to the study of ancient Egyptian writings found in the "High Cultures" of the American Southwest. He is the former Chief of the Bird Band for the American Cherokee Confederacy of Utah (retired) and sat on the tribal council of the American Cherokee of Georgia as their tribal Medicine Man and Spiritual Leader. He still holds the honorary title of "Chief."

Red Hawk is a professional consultant and a keynote speaker with 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He is a certified trainer in TQM (Total Quality Management) and Cultural Diversity by the Department of Defense where he served for 10 years. He is a recipient of the Nave Achievement Medal by the Secretary of the Navy and the winner of two TELLY Awards. In 2005 he wrote and developed a program called “A Motivational Approach to Content Information on Cultural Diversity ©.” He is the author of “The Tao of an Indian” and has contributions in “All Gods Children, Racial and Ethnic Voices in the LDS Church.” His book released in September 2006 is titled “A Course in Diversity.”

The International Library of Poetry voted him as one of the best poets of 2002. Red Hawk was given "Diplomat" status by the International Olympic Committee for his musical performances and cultural programs at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. His CD, “The Songs Remember” won a 2004 TELLY Award for music video of the year, received a nomination for “Best Spoken Word” in the 2004 and 2007 NAMMY’s (Native American Music Awards) a 2005 IMA (Independent Music Award) nomination, and presidential recognition from George W. Bush. His latest CD “Flight of the Hawk” has received 4 first round picks in the 48th annual GRAMMY’s and nominated for BEST SPOKEN WORD in the 2006 Native American Music Awards.

Red Hawk has extensive experience in the areas in managing diversity and cultural understanding. He has lectured to government officials on diversity, leadership, and team building. He has also contributed to developing training videos and training materials for Alexander Consulting and Training. Hawk is a nationally known motivational keynote speaker on the topics of cultural diversity, issues of social change and structural inequality. Hawk has experience conducting complex workplace investigations, organizational problem solving, mediating employment disputes, and designing and presenting labor and employee relations training for managers and supervisors. He received commendations for services in Desert Storm and was awarded the Humanitarian Ribbon for humanitarian services in the rescuing of Korean refugees off the Sea of Japan. He was discharged form the Department of Defense with full honors in 1991.
