In her 20 plus years of automotive racing, Lyn St. James has broken boundaries and set standards. As a competitor in the world’s largest sporting event, the Indianapolis 500, she masterfully drove her way to earn Rookie of the Year honors in 1992. With six Indy 500’s to her credit, Lyn has competed in more of these prestigious events than any other woman in the race’s 82 year history. She has set 31 national and international speed records and succeeded in the sport of auto racing at levels unparalleled by any other woman. As a business entrepreneur she has owned and operated Autodyne, and automotive wholesale distribution business in south Florida from the early 1980’s until 1991 when she sold the business; she started the marketing and public relations firm Creative Images, Inc. in 1979 which she currently operates out of Indianapolis, IN as LSJ Racing LLC; she also was a founder of Human Performance International located in Charlotte, NC which is a world class performance enhancement testing and training centers for athletes and other high performance individuals. She was part owner of a consumer electronics manufactures representatives firm, Dynasales of Florida, from 1970 until 1979. In 1994, she founded the Lyn St. James Foundation as a 501 (c) 3 Nonprofit, educational organization that focuses on worldwide activities and programs for automotive safety and driver development, especially for aspiring female race car drivers. Lyn St. James has become well known as a leader and motivational speaker for young girls to gain self-esteem and accept challenges into nontraditional automotive careers. She has been honored by Working Woman magazine and Sports Illustrated’s Women/Sport premier issue. In 1995, Girls, Inc. of Indianapolis presented Lyn with the Touchstone Award for her courage to overcome barriers to succeed in a nontraditional profession and as an outstanding role model for young girls. Ms. St. James serves on the following boards: Kettering University, National Car Care Council, Human performance International, O’var Coming Together, Indiana Fever Advisory Board, Indianapolis Economic Development MotorForce Executive Committee, Women’s Sports Foundation, Seraphim Cancer Research Foundation, & the Get Real Girl Advisory Board (a new sports adventure doll for children).
