Health & Wellness Expert, Not Your Ordinary Joe
Motivational speaker Joe Piscatella is one of the country’s most respected experts on how to live a healthy lifestyle in the real world. A dynamic, entertaining speaker and a prolific writer (12 books), he knows the science of exercise, diet and balanced living. But Joe goes beyond to examine what keeps people from putting such information to work and more importantly, how to overcome the barriers to healthy living. For this he draws upon is own unique experience.
Picture this: You are 32 years old with a young family and a successful career. One day while playing tennis, you feel some pressure in your chest. Two days later you are having cardiac bypass surgery for aggressive coronary disease.
That's what happened to Joe. The prognosis was not good. One doctor even predicted that he would not live to age 40. But Joe didn't accept that opinion. His philosophy: "You can't change the cards you were dealt, but you can change the way you play them."
He concentrated on eating healthier, managing stress, exercising effectively and keeping a positive attitude. But it wasn't a slam dunk. "There were days," says Joe, "when a hot dog called my name, or I didn't get out of bed for my morning exercise." Ultimately, however, he found the solution and it's worked. Joe has celebrated the 34th anniversary of that surgery, making him one of the longest-lived survivors of cardiac bypass. And with humor, stories and anecdotes, he shares his perspective on living a balanced lifestyle for optimal health and successful aging.
