    Garland Fritts: Profile
    Garland G. Fritts has provided a broad range of management consulting services for more than 25 years to corporations, hospitals, healthcare systems, physician groups and related organizations. As early as 1984 he began concentrating on improving healthcare services for the aging population. He was instrumental in early developments for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) in its Vintage Program (1984). He spearheaded Project Lifecare in late 1984 for R. J. Reynolds Development Corporation and pursued efforts by Florida Power and Light in 1985 to provide diversified services in the elderly market.

    More recently he facilitated the model evolution of the Geriatric Health and Resource Center at Greenwich (CT) Hospital. As an honorary member of the Health Care Advisory Board, he contributed to the 1996-97 study/report on Innovations in Eldercare (reducing senior care costs, chronic care management initiatives and new care delivery channels).

    Garland is in the forefront of geriatric care development that encompasses interdisciplinary geriatric assessments, continuing care and sensitivity to geriatric patient and family needs.

    His focus is on providing services in strategic planning and positioning, collaboration, marketing studies, organization and productivity studies, governance and physician relationships. He is an expert process consultant with extensive experience in facilitating retreats and task forces to build consensus and develop shared visions for physician groups, health systems and other healthcare provider collaboration and merger situations.

    Garland is an experienced speaker and facilitator and has addressed numerous healthcare organizations on trends and issues. He has particular expertise in integrating health system components. He has spoken before hospitals, systems, and healthcare associations, including ACHE Leadership Forums, the ACHE Congress, the American Marketing Association Academy for Health Services Marketing, the Kentucky Hospital Association, the South Dakota Hospital Association, Emory University Hospital and Ohio State University Health Network. His published articles include "Repositioning the Organization," in Executive Excellence, "Hospitals and Seniorcare: Separating Myth From Fact," in DRG Monitor, "Turning Physician Resistance into a Creative Alliance" in Health Care Competition Week, and "Redefining the Community Hospital" in Trustee, and he was the founder and facilitator of the metropolitan Atlanta hospital CEO Forum striving to improve healthcare delivery value in the area.

    Garland has more than ten years with Fry Consultants. He also has been a principal associate with McManis Associates and a vice president of Cresap, a Towers Perrin company, manager of the firm's Atlanta Office, and founder and chairman of the Towers Perrin Healthcare Council.

    Mr. Fritts graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. degree. His memberships have included the American Hospital Association, the American Marketing Association, the American Management Association, the American Medical Association's Doctors Advisory Network, the Health Care Advisory Board (Honorary Member), and the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.
