Dr. Fan Gang: Profile

Dr. Fan Gang is a prominent, Harvard-trained - and fluently English-speaking - Chinese economist, recently named by the prestigious British magazine Prospect as among the world's 100 Most Influential Public Intellectuals. The Director of the National Economic Research Institute of the China Reform Foundation, he has addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos as well as other prestigious gatherings.

A professor of economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the elite government think tank overseeing numerous research institutes, Dr. Fan Gang also serves as an advisor to the Chinese government and consultant to a number of international organizations. Dr. Gang is a prolific author as well, with over 100 academic papers and eight books on macroeconomics and the economics of transition.

Fan Gang's wide-ranging expertise includes the macroeconomics of long term development, international trade and currency, foreign relations, and regional issues concerning China's integration with Asia.
