Doug’s father had a drinking problem while Doug was growing up. Doug struggled in school. He was the “lead screamer” in a heavy metal rock band. However, his mother and a caring member of his church helped him through many challenging times and instilled in Doug the drive to turn challenges into opportunities. Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in Clinical Social Work and Psychology and later his Master’s degree in Behavioral Science in 1993 from the UNLV. Doug maintains his private psychotherapy practice one day a week. Doug gained invaluable real world business experience as Chief Operating Officer of Pioneer Development and Support Services. Doug had a life-altering conversation with Victor Frankl (concentration camp survivor and author of the book Mans’ Search for Meaning) just 6 months before Dr. Frankl died. That conversation served as the springboard for Doug’s life work. Doug has been married for 15 years and has four wonderful children. Doug finds strength in his religious faith and in donating time to teach karate to under-privileged youth.
