In the high-tech world we live in, I question whether companies are taking care of their people? Are they concerned about their employees' feelings, stress levels, and self-development? Human needs such as these remain constant - even in today's fast-changing business environment. While he earned a Bachelors Degree and a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling, Curt feels there is no substitute for what he learned "in the trenches." He comments, " Theory is good only to the extent which it has been tested in real life situations." Working with prison parolees, drug addicts, and Vietnam Veterans for 16 years in the field of rehabilitation, has give him the chance to test theories extensively. A realist once said, "What doesn't kill you, you can grow from." Curt Walvatne has known defeat and hard times. A recovering alcoholic, he has 23 years of sobriety. A promising baseball career was shattered when he "blew out" his shoulder at age 19 while pitching in a tough semi-pro league. Curt is presently employed as a human resource professional for a company in the upper Midwest. For the past 12 years he has developed and implemented training for the employees of his company, from the officer level on throughout the entire organization. He has not limited himself to the arena of self-improvement. Curt's expertise extends to the topics of leadership, management skills, affirmative action and sexual harassment.
