    The Drama behind the Scenes
How I supervised marketing campaigns and personally directed the creative advertising for dozens of Paramount Pictures theatrical releases. We were between ad agencies and I used an outside art studio in N.Y. to prepare trade ad for "Love Story" starring Ryan O'Neal and Ali McGraw. I chose the line from Erich Segal's novel, "Love Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry" and asked that it be written in script below a black and white picture of the two stars that had been taken in Central Park. It became the poster and print ad for the release of the film and one of the most memorable movie copy lines of the 70's. Other Paramount Pictures that I guided into the marketplace (and they all have their special stories) include: "The Godfather"(Creation of ad campaign is good story). "Godfather II", "Serpico", "Chinatown", "The Parallax View", "Downhill Racer", "The Great Gatsby", "Paper Moon" "Lady Sings The Blues", "Nashville", "Three Days of the Condor", "Murder On The Orient Express", "The Conversation", "Play It Again Sam" "The Little Prince", "Don't Look Now", "Amadeus", "Platoon", 'Married to the Mob", "The Terminator" etc.

    Moguls, Monsters and Martinis
Stories behind The Great Gatsby, Murder on the Orient Express and others.
Dealing with Motown Records, Diana Ross, Barry Gordy etc.
Meeting with Woody Allen and how he autographs copy of his book ,"Getting Even" to me- "To Charles- I trust you, but don't ask me why Woody Allen".
Other stories about Lee Marvin, Lauren Bacall, Francis Ford Coppola, Dino DeLaurentis, Gregory Peck, Kirk Douglas and Shirley MacLaine, Robert Evans and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
