Bob Love , Illinois USA -- 5.0k to 10.0k

For seven straight years Bob Love was the Chicago Bulls' highest scorer, setting a team record of 25.8 points per game! However, in spite of his success on the court, Love was unable to do something most people take for granted - talking without stuttering. After retiring from basketball, he tried for seven years to find a steady job and in 1984 was hired as a dishwasher at Nordstrom's for $4.45 per hour. Working six months in a row without a day off, Love was noticed by Nordstrom's owner who offered to pay for speech therapy. The rest is history.
