 - In 2003 Dusty Baker guided the Chicago Cubs to their first NL Central Division Title and into the postseason for the first time since 1998. The Cubs ousted the high-powered Atlanta Braves in five games in the NL Division Series and took the Florida Marlins to seven games to decide the National League Champion. This is a significant accomplishment as the Chicago Cubs finished 2002 with a 67-95 record (fourth place) and improved their record by 21 wins to finish 88-74 in 2003. The Cubs finished the second half of the season with the third best record in baseball (41-27 .603 winning percentage). Baker won Major League baseball’s “Manager’s Move of the Year” award for a move he made against the Diamondbacks in August.
